Valencia is the capital of Carabobo state and one of Venezuela's main urban centers: an industrial, commercial, and university hub at the heart of the country. Founded in 1555, it preserves a historic core with the Metropolitan Cathedral, colonial squares, and the bustle of a modern metropolis in municipalities such as San Diego and Naguanagua.
