About this destination

El Tigre is a city in Anzoátegui state and one of the main commercial, services, and logistics centers of eastern Venezuela. It emerged with the region's oil development (Oficina field, San Tomé) and has grown into a dynamic city with a wide range of hotels, dining, and commerce, and is a link between Barcelona–Puerto La Cruz–Lecheria, Ciudad Bolívar, and southern Anzoátegui. The city has commercial avenues, shopping centers, hotels, and restaurants serving both business travelers and tourists in transit to Mochima, Margarita, or the Gran Sabana. The Oil Museum and references to oil history are part of the local identity. From El Tigre you can reach by road Barcelona, Puerto La Cruz, Lecheria, and Mochima National Park; also south to Ciudad Bolívar and Canaima. The climate is warm year-round. Eastern cuisine is present in arepas, grilled meats, seafood, and typical dishes. El Tigre is a practical base for combining business, stopovers on tourist routes, and visits to the coast and natural parks of the east.
